Proverbs 3:1-10

TODAY WE WILL TALK ABOUT OUT NEED FOR SECURITY AND HOW GOD PROVIDES IT FOR US.

A. TO BEGIN WITH, WE RECOGNIZE OUR BUILT-IN NEED FOR SECURITY
– Can’t avoid it
– Crave a feeling of peace no matter what the circumstances. Especially during hard times.
– It is why we worry.
– It is why we work hard for good grades in school or want the best job.
– It is why we plan for the future.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

Message by Pastor Maki Umakoshi

October 22, 2023

When my daughter Reika was still very young, she once drew a family picture in her preschool class. She drew herself and her mother beautifully, but her father seemed nowhere to be found.

I remember the preschool teacher giving me a psychological explanation on the picture. She says “children’s drawings often reveal their subconscious state of mind, and that fact that you’re not on this picture kind of indicates that your presence is felt very weak by your daughter.”

Scripture: John 4:24

There are two different groups of people in the world. People in group one believe in the existence of God and the other group does not. We say the 1st group would be “Theist” verses “Atheist.” Then, going a little deeper in the belief about God: There are theists such as polytheists & monotheists (one God believer).  There are three major groups being differentiated: 1.Jews, 2.Muslimsand 3. Christians.

In Judaism, Jews believe in Jehovah as the only true God.  Muslims believe that Alah is the only God.  Christians believe only in Jesus as the Savior and the one true God.

Scripture: Romans 1: 1-7

Hello! Everybody,

I am very happy today, because I could meet with you who lives in Battle Creek, Michigan by remote. It’s been since 2006 which is 17 years ago.

I would like to introduce myself for those who meet me the first time. I used to live in Coldwater, MI from 1993 to 2006 (for 13 years) and I also used to visit Mr. and Mrs. Mizutas’ house almost everyweek then. Those times are very good memory for me.

God So Loves You!

Message by Rev. Samuel Kim

Scripture: John 3:16

Seeing the universe on the big screen is really beautiful. Some astrophysicists say that they shed tears when they saw colorful sparkling stars in a dark space—such beauty moved them! God created this beautiful world and said it was good. However, among the many stars God created life only on Earth. As far as we know, life exists only on Earth. All other planets are desolate and cold like deserts without air. However, the earth is an optimal environment for life with abundant water, fresh air, moderate temperature, and enormous resources. It is full of life, from sea and land to microscopic germs in caves several kilometers deep. God created life on earth and said that it was good.

What Flavor Is Your Tea?

Rev. John Kroeger

Scripture Reading : Galatians 5:16-25

The Apostle Paul had personally taught many of the Galatians in the church about the gospel (the good news: that Jesus of Nazareth was the sinless Savior) and many in Galatia had believed and come to faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation of their sins. After Paul left to preach the gospel in other cities, false teachers had come in to the church. These false teachers turned the church away from believing the gospel, to a false gospel of works and keeping the Old Testament law. Paul begins his letter by reminding the church at Galatia of the truths that he had shared with them in person.

Visible Testimony

Message by Rev. Samuel Kim

February 19, 2023

Scripture: Joshua 4:19-20

Someone asks, ‘What is the meaning of a testimony in the life of a believer?’ and ‘Why is it important to be able to tell your faith story?’After all, experiences and testimony are not the essence of faith. Faith without seeing miracles and mysteries with our own eyes is still real faith. That’s right. Our faith does not depend on personally experiencing miracles and mystical event because even without them, God is still alive, God is revealed in Jesus Christ, the miracle worker.

Scripture: John 1:1-5, John 1:14, and John 3:16

When my old watch stopped working, my husband bought me a new watch. I like it very much but there was something I had to learn when I began wearing it. The clasp had a different way of locking together. In the beginning I would carefully attach the two ends using the clasp and it looked fine. However, often it would suddenly fall off my wrist just a few minutes later.  I realized, finally, not only did I need to put the two ends together properly but I had to listen for the click. That click sound told me my watch was securely attached and would not fall off.
